Chapter 5 save editor

What this Deltarune Chapter 5 save editor can do

Chapter 5 extends the existing V2 save with Festival Day equipment, consumables, key items, spells, and rooms.

Add Chapter 5 weapons

Choose Festival Day weapons including Thatchet, BlueShoes, AquaKnife, FloweryScarf, GildedRose, and MistleWP from named dropdowns.

Equip the new armor

Chapter 5 armor includes MonarchRBN, TrueTie, DogWidow, RedRibbon, NetskieHat, SethSpecs, YellowHat, O.Glove, and GreenApron.

Stock Festival Day items

Fill pockets or storage with GreenTea, OrangeJuice, Schadenbrot, TreeCake, Raw Moon, Phanta, FlowerySoda, Shikacola, and earlier-chapter items.

Fix your key items

Add or remove Chapter 5 key items such as Scissors, PetalFeather, PerpBook, TrainPlan, YellowKey, MysteryKey, and both Bromides.

Tune the party

Edit HP, attack, defense, magic, equipment, and spell slots for the party. Chapter 5 adds ReviveSong and Scythemare to the spell table.

Preserve every unknown value

The editor changes only the lines you touch. Unknown Chapter 5 IDs and raw flags remain intact instead of being silently replaced.

Chapter 5 save file facts

Chapter 5 uses the same plain-text V2 layout as Chapters 2, 3, and 4: 3,055 lines with one value per line. The editor reads Chapter 5 from the filech5_* filename and switches to the Festival Day name tables automatically. If a file has been renamed, use the Chapter 5 button in the editor toolbar.

  • filech5_0, filech5_1, filech5_2 — the three active Chapter 5 save slots.
  • filech5_3 to filech5_5 — Completion FILEs written after finishing the chapter.
  • Keep the exact filename — the suffix determines which slot the game loads.

On Windows the folder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\DELTARUNE; on macOS it is ~/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.deltarune/. The save file location guide covers Linux and Steam Deck too.

Quit the game before replacing a file, keep the original backup, and watch for Steam Cloud restoring an older copy. Chapter 5 is still receiving game updates, so a backup is non-negotiable.

The honest state of Chapter 5 flags

Chapter 5 item, weapon, armor, spell, and selected room names are mapped. Dedicated story-flag labels and plot-point recipes are not complete enough to present as safe one-click choices.

The Advanced tab therefore exposes raw flag numbers without guessing. Change those only when you know the exact line and value, and compare against a backup before continuing the game.

Edit a Chapter 5 save in three steps

From hidden folder to maxed pockets in about a minute.

  1. Find filech5_0

Your active Chapter 5 slots are filech5_0 through filech5_2. The save file location guide shows the exact folder on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck.

  2. Open it in the editor above

The tool reads the file locally with FileReader — nothing is uploaded. Chapter detection is automatic, and this page is already pre-set to Chapter 5.

  3. Download and replace

Save the edited file, drop it back over the original while the game is closed, and launch. The full walkthrough covers backups, Steam Cloud, and troubleshooting.

Copy your original Chapter 5 save somewhere safe before editing. Keep that backup until the edited file has loaded correctly in-game.

Frequently asked questions

Does this editor support Chapter 5 saves?

Yes. It recognizes filech5 saves, preserves the 3,055-line V2 layout, and loads Chapter 5 items, weapons, armor, spells, and selected rooms. Raw story flags remain available without uncertain labels.

Where are my Chapter 5 save files?

On Windows they live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\DELTARUNE, and on macOS in ~/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.deltarune/. Chapter 5 uses filech5_0, filech5_1, and filech5_2 for its active slots.

Does it work with both the Steam and itch.io versions?

Yes. Computer versions use the local DELTARUNE folder and the same plain-text save structure. On Steam, replace the file while the game is closed and keep a backup in case Steam Cloud restores the older copy.

Can I move items between the storage box and my inventory?

Yes. Chapter 5 uses the V2 save layout, which includes the storage box alongside your pockets. The editor exposes both lists with Chapter 5 item names.

Are all Chapter 5 story flags labelled?

No. Chapter 5 flag mapping is still incomplete. The Advanced tab preserves and exposes the raw values without claiming uncertain labels. Back up your save before changing them.
