Chapter 4 save editor
What this Deltarune Chapter 4 save editor can do
Chapter 4's save tables list 44 items, 32 weapons, and 33 armors — every one of them addable, swappable, or removable. These are the edits players reach for first.
Grab Chapter 4's new weapons
The chapter adds five weapons the older chapters never had: the JingleBlade, ScarfMark, JusticeAxe, Winglade, and AbsorbAx. Missed one on your route? Add it straight to your inventory.
Equip the new armor
Chapter 4 brings the Waterguard, MysticBand, PowerBand, PrincessRBN, and GoldWidow. Equip them on any party member or stock your storage box with spares.
Stock up on consumables
Fill your pockets with the chapter's new heals — AncientSweet, Rhapsotea, Scarlixir, and BitterTear — or classics like ReviveMint, TensionMax, and the DeluxeDinner.
Fix your key items
Chapter 4 adds two new key items, SheetMusic and ClaimbClaws. The editor can add or remove any key item in the table, from the humble Egg to the PureCrystal.
Tune the party
The save's party lines cover Kris, Susie, Ralsei, and Noelle. Edit max HP, attack, defense, and magic for each of them — or rebuild their spell lists before a boss rematch.
Money and the storage box
Set your Dark Dollars to any amount, then use the 72-slot storage box to stash the overflow. Pockets full? Move gear into storage instead of throwing it away.
Chapter 4 save file facts
Chapter 4 shares its save layout with Chapters 2 and 3: a plain-text file of exactly 3,055 lines, one value per line, with no checksum to trip you up. (Chapter 1 is the odd one out at 10,318 lines.) Because the format is shared, the editor reads the chapter from your file's name — and on this page it is pre-set to Chapter 4, with a manual chapter switcher if you renamed the file. Playing Tenna's TV World instead? The Chapter 3 save editor handles files named filech3_0.
- filech4_0, filech4_1, filech4_2 — the three Chapter 4 save slots, in menu order.
- filech4_3 to filech4_5 — Completion FILEs the game writes after you finish a playthrough.
- filech4_9 — a continuation file the game overwrites every time you load a save.
On Windows the folder is %LOCALAPPDATA%\DELTARUNE; on macOS it is ~/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.deltarune/. Both the Steam and itch.io versions use the same folder, and Steam Deck players will find the files inside the Proton prefix. The save file location guide walks through every OS step by step.
Two rules before you swap files back in: quit the game first (it holds saves in memory while running), and watch out for Steam Cloud, which can restore an older copy over your edited one. And the golden rule — keep a backup of the original file before you change anything.
The honest state of Chapter 4 flags
Here is the part most tool sites gloss over: community documentation for Chapter 4's story flags is still incomplete. In Chapter 2, mappers pinned down entries like flag[571], which records how the Spamton NEO fight ended. Chapter 4 has not had that treatment yet — most of its flag numbers are unmapped, and anyone claiming a full list is guessing.
This editor does not pretend otherwise. The Advanced tab shows every raw flag value exactly as it sits in your file, so you can do real detective work: export a save before a story choice, another one after, and diff the two to see precisely which flags moved. It is slower than a labelled dropdown, but it is truthful — and it is how every flag map ever published got started.
Edit a Chapter 4 save in three steps
From hidden folder to maxed pockets in about a minute.
-
Find filech4_0
Your three Chapter 4 slots are filech4_0 through filech4_2. The save file location guide shows the exact folder on Windows, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck.
-
Open it in the editor above
The tool reads the file locally with FileReader — nothing is uploaded. Chapter detection is automatic, and this page is already pre-set to Chapter 4.
-
Download and replace
Save the edited file, drop it back over the original while the game is closed, and launch. The full walkthrough covers backups, Steam Cloud, and troubleshooting.
Chapter 4 is new enough that a bad edit can cost you a one-of-a-kind file. Copy your original save somewhere safe before you edit — it takes five seconds and undoes any mistake.
Frequently asked questions
Does this editor support Chapter 4 saves?
Yes. Chapter 4 launched on June 5, 2025 alongside Chapter 3 in the paid release, and the editor supports it fully. This page's editor is pre-set to Chapter 4, and the tool also auto-detects the chapter from your file's name when it loads — so a file named filech4_0 is recognized instantly.
Where are my Chapter 4 save files?
On Windows they live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\DELTARUNE, and on macOS in ~/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.deltarune/. Chapter 4 uses the files filech4_0, filech4_1, and filech4_2 for its three save slots. Our save file location guide has the exact paths for every OS, including Steam Deck.
Does it work with both the Steam and itch.io versions?
Yes. Both the Steam and itch.io versions of the full release store saves in the same folder and in the same plain-text format — one value per line, no checksum. One thing to watch on Steam: Steam Cloud can restore an older file over your edited one, so replace the file while the game is closed and let the sync settle before launching.
Can I move items between the storage box and my inventory?
Yes. From Chapter 2 onward the save includes a 72-slot storage box alongside your pockets, and the editor exposes both lists. Set a pocket slot to Empty and put the item in a storage slot (or the reverse) — that is a move. It is handy for stashing spare equipment like a second ScarfMark without cluttering your pockets.
Does the Chapter 4 save editor work on Mac?
Yes. The editor runs entirely in the browser, so it works on macOS in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox just as it does on Windows or Linux. Mac saves live in ~/Library/Application Support/com.tobyfox.deltarune/ — open the file, edit, download, and put it back while the game is closed.
